High-end ritzy, or formerly rich neighborhoods that have been around for a long time, at least the early 20s, but better if around the turn of the last century, are best for it because they often have these little narrow twisty alleys behind the main houses serve as a place place for servants quarters, carriage houses, personal warehouses (ware-shacks?) or sometimes I you can't tell what, that eventually became garages, little out of the way apartments, and some things that you will still have a hard time figuring out what are, or ever were.

Looking for an unusual and interesting place for a nice long walk? (and I mean as soon as the temp gets below the melting point of linoleum and the air turns back from an isotope of oxygen to the regular brand) hunt up one of these winding roads.
At the bottom is a link to find more, as well as larger images of these and details about where they are and other things.
